Move to Wilmington, NC.
Having lived in the Washington, DC area for the past 40+ years, Brian has made the move to Wilmington, NC in 2020. Brian has led two bands, BG & the Mojo Hands and All wheel Jive, and a blues acoustic duo, Roots & Blues, for the past 25+ years. Although happy with the move, Brian was faced with the prospect of starting all over again. And this was during COVID.

As soon as covid numbers decreased, Brian immediately restarted his booking efforts with the goal of reforming his longtime groups. Brian started making Wilmington music industry contacts (meeting local musicians, club owners/managers, radio station DJs, etc.), to help locate the best musicians for reforming BG & the Mojo Hands and Delectrified. From his new network of musician contacts, Brian was referred to the great blues harmonica player/vocalist, Nel Nichols, who also contributes original songs to the duo’s repertoire. The two musicians have a lot of similar musical influences and hit it off from the start. After one rehearsal, Brian realized that he wouldn’t need to look any further and so, Roots & Blues was reformed!

Brian has really had his booking Mojo working and in a short period of time has successfully booked Roots & Blues at several desirable venues, including the Rusty Nail, The Pilot House, and Bar Masonboro.

Roots & Blues first booking was at the Rusty Nail, Wilmington’s premiere blues venue, in January, 2022. Although it was postponed because of high covid numbers in the region, we are in the process of rescheduling. Also, Roots & Blues has been offered a performance slot at the Cape Fear Blues Festival! BG is looking forward to a confirmation soon. This would be a great accomplishment to perform at this festival during his first summer in town.

Roots & Blues next booking has been a twice monthly residency (March-October) at the popular and scenic Pilot House Restaurant in historic downtown Wilmington on the Cape Fear River. Performance schedule attached. The view is stunning and the sunsets are majestic!. They have a great menu, especially the seafood, including the best Shrimp & Grits in Town!

Brian booked the duo’s next gig at Bar Masonboro. Scheduled for June 25, the performance space is in the courtyard between Bar Masonboro and Cut and Pour, a more upscale restaurant. The two restaurants share the courtyard and the music performances with Bar Masonborro booking Saturday nights and Cut & Pour Friday nights.

Brian has booked two dates - June 30 and July 28 at the Rusty Nail, Wilmington’s Premiere Blues venue.

He is currently holding auditions for bass, drums, keyboards and harmonica to reform BG & the Mojo Hands.
